Primary route from the port

Aberdeen is where the I-95 North warehouse pipeline from the Port of Baltimore ends, about 30 road miles and 40 minutes from the Seagirt gate. Eastgate 95 Industrial Park, the Amazon sort center and the Perryman logistics buildings put Aberdeen on the shortlist for any e-commerce or home-goods brand that imports through Baltimore. Aberdeen Proving Ground sits on the other side of town and pulls a steady flow of defense freight. Baltimore 3PL coordinates partner warehouses, drayage carriers and kitting crews in Aberdeen. No fleet to fill, so the right truck wins every time.

Getting there from the pier

Seagirt Marine Terminal is the Port of Baltimore’s container terminal. Dundalk Marine Terminal, beside it, handles ro-ro, breakbulk and forest products. Both sit on the east side of the harbor, and a load for Aberdeen gets on I-95 north from either gate without crossing the water. US-40 runs parallel and serves the Perryman side of town. Plan on 40 minutes outside peak traffic, and on a drayage partner turning several Aberdeen containers in a shift.

The Key Bridge carried I-695 across the Patapsco south of the terminals, so its collapse in March 2024 did not change the Aberdeen lane from Seagirt, Dundalk or Tradepoint Atlantic. It did change the lane from the south side of the harbor. Vehicles and parts from the Fairfield auto terminals, or anything from Curtis Bay, must cross through the Fort McHenry or Harbor tunnels on the way north. Hazmat and loads over 14 feet 6 inches high or 11 feet wide may not use the tunnels and loop the west side of I-695, about 30 to 35 extra miles and 45 to 60 minutes, until the new bridge opens in late 2030. The Key Bridge truck routing page lists the limits.

Industrial parks and who is there

Eastgate 95 Industrial Park covers 250 acres on the I-95 side of Aberdeen. The Container Store opened a 600,000 square foot distribution center there, and MRP Industrial has signed 1.5 million square feet of leases in the park. Perryman Logistics Center added 571,000 square feet of speculative space next door, and Prologis has a 580,000 square foot building in Perryman. Spreetail took about 572,000 square feet in Aberdeen in the third quarter of 2026. Amazon runs a sort center in town. The county as a whole hosts Amazon, Wayfair and Clorox distribution.

Aberdeen Proving Ground supports about 23,700 jobs and roughly $4 billion of output. Its test programs and contractors need inbound that arrives on an appointment, with a chain of custody, and often with a kitting step before it reaches the gate. See the defense, aerospace and government page for how we place that freight.

What we run in Aberdeen

E-commerce fulfillment in partner buildings on the Eastgate 95 and Perryman side. Pick, pack and parcel for small items, and LTL or scheduled home delivery for the big and bulky goods that define this market. Returns come back to the same building. Read more on the furniture and big and bulky page.

Drayage from Seagirt and Dundalk up I-95. The lane is short and tunnel-free, which keeps turn times tight and demurrage exposure low.

Kitting and value-added services for brands that ship retail-ready displays, bundles or subscription boxes, and for defense suppliers that need serialized kits built and labeled before delivery to Aberdeen Proving Ground.

FTZ 74 and duty deferral

Aberdeen is in Harford County, which is inside the FTZ 74 service area administered by the Baltimore Development Corporation. In an FTZ-approved partner building, imported furniture, storage products and consumer goods wait without duty. Duty is paid when an order ships to a US customer, and goods re-exported never pay. For a direct-to-consumer importer with slow winter turns, that is cash held for months. Customs clearance is coordinated through our licensed customs broker partners. The FTZ 74 guide covers activation and the paperwork.

Questions shippers ask

01How far is Aberdeen from the Port of Baltimore?

About 30 road miles and 40 minutes from the Seagirt gate, straight up I-95 with no harbor tunnel on the route.

02Do you own a warehouse in Aberdeen?

No. We coordinate partner warehouses at Eastgate 95, in Perryman and along US-40, and we match the building to your product and volume.

03Can you handle big and bulky e-commerce orders in Aberdeen?

Yes. Aberdeen is a home-goods and e-commerce market, and our partners here handle oversize parcels, LTL and scheduled home delivery.

04Is Aberdeen inside FTZ 74?

Yes. Aberdeen is in Harford County, which is part of the FTZ 74 service area. Imported goods can wait in an approved partner building without duty until sold.

05Does the Key Bridge detour matter for Aberdeen?

Not for freight from Seagirt, Dundalk or Tradepoint Atlantic. The run north never crossed the bridge. Loads from the south side of the harbor still have to use the tunnels or the loop.
