Two miles from the Seagirt gate

Dundalk Marine Terminal is 570 acres on the Patapsco with 13 berths, two of them at 50 feet, mobile heavy-lift cranes and more than eight miles of on-terminal rail with Norfolk Southern direct and CSX by interchange. It handles autos, ro-ro, breakbulk, wood pulp, project cargo, farm and construction equipment, steel coils and raw rubber. The Maryland Port Administration calls it a top US ro-ro port, and Wallenius Wilhelmsen runs its East Coast hub there under a 20-year, 150-acre agreement. Seagirt Marine Terminal, the container terminal, sits next door on the same Broening Highway. The Dundalk town line is about two miles from the Seagirt gate, about eight minutes.

Dundalk is where the port meets the warehouse. Baltimore 3PL does not own a building here. We coordinate the partner warehouses, drayage carriers and transload crews that already work the Broening Highway corridor every day. Fifty years of partners. One phone number.

Getting there from the pier

The route is Broening Highway itself. A container or a machine leaves the Seagirt or Dundalk gate and reaches a Dundalk partner dock without touching an interstate. I-695 and I-95 are minutes away when the load continues north to Harford County or Philadelphia, about 105 miles from the pier.

Dundalk sits on the east side of the harbor, the same side as both terminals. It never needed the Key Bridge to reach Seagirt or Dundalk Marine Terminal, so the bridge collapse of March 26, 2024 changed nothing on the first mile. It changed the second leg. Any Dundalk load bound for Curtis Bay, Glen Burnie, BWI or Anne Arundel County now crosses the harbor through the I-95 Fort McHenry Tunnel or the I-895 Harbor Tunnel. Hazmat and anything over 14 feet 6 inches high or 11 feet wide may not use the tunnels. Those loads loop the west side of I-695, 30 to 35 extra miles and 45 to 60 minutes, until the bridge reopens in late 2030. Our Key Bridge routing guide sets out the rules.

Industrial parks and who is there

The Broening Highway corridor is the main address. It runs from the Seagirt gate past Dundalk Marine Terminal and into Baltimore County, lined with the warehouses and transload yards that serve both piers. Six miles further along the shore, Tradepoint Atlantic, the private port on the 3,300-acre former Bethlehem Steel site at Sparrows Point, holds Amazon, FedEx Ground, Home Depot, Floor & Decor, Under Armour and the Volkswagen and Pasha vehicle operations. The Sparrows Point Container Terminal is under construction there, with a first berth in 2028. Dundalk partner docks sit between the two ports, which is why overflow from either one lands here first.

Dundalk and Sparrows Point are both in Baltimore County, which with the city has about 1.1 million square feet of industrial space under construction on the east side. Baltimore County East is the largest port-adjacent industrial pipeline in the region. Read the terminal detail on our Dundalk Marine Terminal page.

What we run in Dundalk

Drayage: the shortest dray in the port. A Dundalk partner dock means the container returns to Seagirt the same day and demurrage never starts. Ro-ro logistics: Dundalk Marine Terminal lands the farm and construction machinery that makes Baltimore the No. 1 US port for that cargo at 887,513 tons in 2025. Our partners stage, inspect and deliver it. Warehousing: partner buildings on Broening Highway hold forest products, steel coils and automotive parts a few minutes from the berth.

Behind those sit transloading partners who strip a container into a domestic trailer the same day, and project cargo riggers for the heavy-lift pieces that cross the Dundalk berths.

FTZ 74 and duty deferral

Dundalk sits in Baltimore County, inside the service area of Foreign Trade Zone No. 74. The zone is administered by the Baltimore Development Corporation and covers Baltimore City plus Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Cecil, Harford, Howard and Queen Anne’s counties. A Dundalk partner warehouse with zone status holds your imports with duty deferred until they leave for the US market. Customs clearance is coordinated through our licensed customs broker partners. The FTZ 74 guide explains how a site is activated.
